mousemove()


Description

The mousemove event occurs whenever the mouse pointer moves within a specified element.

The mousemove() method triggers the mousemove event, or if the function parameter is set, it specifies what happens when a mousemove event occur.

Note: Each time a user moves the mouse one pixel, a mousemove event occurs. It takes system resources to process all mousemove events. Use this event carefully.


Trigger the Event

Trigger the mousemove event for the selected element.

This form returns a jQuery object.


Bind a Function to the Event

Specifies a function to run when the mousemove event is triggered for the selected element.

.mousemove(function)
Parameter Description
function (optional) Specifies the function to run when the mousemove event is triggered

Return Value

This form returns a jQuery object.

This method has the alternate form:

.mousemove(data,function)
Parameter Description
data (optional) Specifies additional data to pass along to the function
function (optional) Specifies the function to run when the mousemove event is triggered
