jQuery.data()


Description

The jQuery.data() function stores data associated with the specified element.

Note: Use of this method is not recommended. Use .data() instead.

This function has the form:

jQuery.data(element,key,value)
Parameter Description
element The DOM element to associate with the data
key A string naming the piece of data to set
value The new data value

Return Value

This form returns a jQuery object.

This function has an alternate form that returns the value at named data store for the element:

jQuery.data(element,key)
Parameter Description
element The DOM element to query for the data
key Name of the data stored

Return Value

This form returns an Object.


v1.4

This function has an alternate form that returns the full data store for the element:

jQuery.data(element)
Parameter Description
element The DOM element to query for the data

Return Value

This form returns an Object.
