Description

The jQuery.extend() function merges the contents of two or more objects together into the first object .

This function has the form:

jQuery.extend(target,
    object1,
    objectN)
Parameter Description
target An object that will receive the new properties if additional objects are passed in or that will extend the jQuery namespace if it is the sole argument
object1 (optional) Specifies an object containing additional properties to merge in
objectN (optional) Additional objects containing properties to merge in

Return Value

This form returns an Object.

jQuery.extend(deep,
    target,
    object1,
    objectN)
Parameter Description
deep (optional) If true, the merge becomes recursive
target The object to extend
object1 Specifies an object containing additional properties to merge in
objectN (optional) Additional objects containing properties to merge in
