Description

The SHA( ) function calculates and returns an SHA-1 160-bit checksum.

This function has the form:

SELECT SHA(str)
Parameter Description
str A string

Return Value

The SHA-1 160-bit checksum.

Examples

The following example shows the basic use of this function:

mysql> SELECT SHA1('abc');
    -> 'a9993e364706816aba3e25
717850c26c9cd0d89d'
