UNCOMPRESSED_LENGTH()


Description

The UNCOMPRESSED_LENGTH( ) function returns the lengththat the compressed string had before being compressed.

This function has the form:

SELECT UNCOMPRESSED_LENTH(compressed_string)
Parameter Description
compressed_string Compressed String

Return Value

The length of the compressed string.

Examples

The following example shows the basic use of this function:

mysql> SELECT UNCOMPRESSED_LENGTH(COMPRESS(REPEAT('a',30)));
-> 30
