YEAR()


Description

The YEAR( ) function returns the year for a date, in the range 1000 to 9999. This function returns 0 for the “zero” date.

This function has the form:

SELECT YEAR(date)
Parameter Description
date A date

Return Value

Year for a date, in the range 1000 to 9999.

Examples

The following example shows the basic use of this function:

mysql> SELECT YEAR('1987-01-01');
-> 1987
