For...Next


Description

The For...Next statement repeats a group of statements a specified number of times.

This statement has the following form:

For counter = start To end [Step step]
    [statements]
    [Exit For]
    [statements]
Next
Parameter Description
counter (required) Numeric variable used as a loop counter. The variable cannot be an array element or an element of a user-defined type
start (required) Specifies the initial value of counter
end (required) Specifies the final value of counter
step (optional) Specifies the amount counter is changed each time through the loop

Note: If not specified, step defaults to one
statements (optional) One or more statements that are executed on each item in group

Examples

The following example shows the basic use of this statement:

For i = 0 To 5
  Msgbox("i = " & i)
Next

This produces the following result (each line in a separate pop-up message box):

i = 0
i = 1
i = 2
i = 3
i = 4
